Together

It is easy to tell which swans are together. the nodding and dipping of their heads and the synchronized swimming denote a pair. When they are 2 or 3 years old they form a lifelong monogamous relationship. I visit them close to where I live and have learned to tell the age of them by their patience or lack of it. The younger ones grab and are pecked at by the older ones. The larger older ones wait their turn. They know I won't forget them.
